If you missed this morning’s meeting, here is the scoop:
Our topic was Summer Babywearing and we discussed fabric choices for keeping cool in the heat. We had a great mix of veteran wearers and moms new to slinging. Janet brought her solarveil ring sling–a wonderful option for the summer. Carey demonstrated newborn carries in ring slings and Julie tossed Norah around to show different ways to get a tot on your back. Raechel had an adorable hand-made child’s mei tai that Kenzie was showing off.
Off topic, we checked out Beth’s new thirsties pocket dipes and Kelly gave us the g-diaperrundown. Janet–if you’re reading this, give us the link for the WAHM diapers you were talking about. We also talked about how to skim cream off raw milk, where to buy sides of grass-fed beef, and where to find kefir grains (anyone?).
Did I leave anything out?
Hi there Ladies, it was great to see you all in person and thank you so much for all your demonstrations with the wraps and slings!!! If you read this Janet, would you post for me the name on the tag of your Solarveil…you mentioned it while I was there and said to google the website and they have a pattern for making the slings…..
I had a great time and really came home feeling like this was something I could do, the babywearing aspect, and do it successfully!!! Thanks again!!!
Jan at Sleeping Baby Productions makes really high-quality, affordable ring slings. Her website also has very thorough directions for sewing your own sling here: DIY sling and other baby-related crafts
Julie, maybe we should have a list of links to DIY baby carrier patterns?
The fitted diapers are Sun Seedlings. I personally have not tried them, but members of Diaper Pin have been raving about them and they look very cute. I’m very tempted to get one. Diaper Pin is my favorite place for cloth diaper information.
I included a DIY link for each carrier type on the “types of carriers” pages and a DIY site on the articles page. I love Jan’s site–she is so amazing for sharing all her patterns.
And congratulations on your new baby Melissa!
I, Sadly, do not know what kefir is but I saw it at Ingles today.
